Sarvdharam Blood is a free, volunteer-run platform operated by Sarv Dharam Sewa Foundation ("SDSF", "we", "us") that connects voluntary blood donors with people who need blood. Because the forms on this platform ask for personal and health-eligibility information, we want to be clear and specific about what we collect and what we do with it.

1. Information we collect

We collect information directly from you when you use the platform, principally through the Become a Donor and Post Request forms:

• Identity & contact details: full name, phone number, and (optionally) email address.
• Blood & health-eligibility details: blood group, last donation date, and answers to basic eligibility questions (age, weight, recent illness/medication, etc.) asked before you register as a donor.
• Location: city/district and, for blood requests, the hospital or location where blood is needed.
• Request details: for blood requests — patient blood group, units needed, urgency, and hospital name.
• Verification notes: when our volunteers verify a donor or a request (e.g. by phone), they may record short verification notes against your entry.

We do not collect payment information of any kind — the platform is 100% free and never processes payments.

2. How we use your information

• To match registered donors with people seeking blood of a compatible group, near their location.
• To let our volunteers verify donor eligibility and the authenticity of blood requests before they go live, so the platform stays safe and free of fraud.
• To contact you about a request or donation you're involved in, or about your account.
• To display aggregated, non-identifying statistics (e.g. total donors registered, camps held) on the platform.
• To investigate reports of fraud, misuse, or abuse of the platform (see our Terms of Service).

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

3. Who we share it with

Contact details are shared only as narrowly as the platform's purpose requires:

• When a seeker's request matches your donor profile, your name, blood group, and contact number may be shared with that specific seeker (and vice versa) so they can coordinate directly.
• Our verifying volunteers and admin team can see full entries in order to confirm authenticity and respond to help/fraud reports.
• We use Supabase as our database and backend infrastructure provider, which stores this data on our behalf under its own security and data-processing safeguards. Supabase does not use your data for its own purposes.
• We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a donor, seeker, or the public in a genuine emergency.

We never publish your full contact details publicly — donor/request listings on the platform show only what's needed to identify a potential match (e.g. blood group and area), not your phone number, until a match is made.

4. Local storage on your device

The platform does not use tracking cookies. It does use two small, non-identifying entries in your browser's local storage to make the site work better:

• sb_requests — keeps a local copy of blood requests you've posted from this browser, so you can find them again on the Active Requests page.
• sb_donor_popup_shown — a session-only flag that stops the donor-registration popup from reappearing repeatedly during one visit.

Neither entry is sent to any third party or used for tracking across other websites. See our Cookie Policy for more detail.

5. Data retention & deletion

We keep donor and request records for as long as your account or listing is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for fraud-prevention and record-keeping. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see "Your rights" below) and we will remove it unless we're required to retain it for a legitimate reason, such as an open fraud investigation.

6. Your rights

You can, at any time, ask us to:

• Access the information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or outdated information (e.g. an old phone number or blood group).
• Delete your donor profile or request listing.
• Withdraw consent to being contacted about future requests.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below — we aim to respond within a reasonable time.

7. Children's data

Sarvdharam Blood is intended for donors and requesters who meet the minimum legal donation age in their jurisdiction (typically 18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor's information has been submitted, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Security

We rely on Supabase's infrastructure security (encryption in transit, access-controlled databases) and restrict internal access to donor/request data to verified volunteers and admins on a need-to-know basis. No platform can guarantee absolute security, so please avoid sharing sensitive information (such as OTPs or payment details — which we will never ask for) with anyone claiming to represent Sarvdharam Blood outside the platform's official channels.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted means you accept the revised policy.
